Abstract

1,080,579. Heat exchanger tubes. WIELAND - WERKE A.G. Aug. 24, 1965 [Sept. 5, 1964], No. 36411/65. Heading F4S. A heat exchanger tube 2 is fitted with a fin 1 in the form of a strip having a cambered transverse cross-section, the strip being pre-stressed so that it grips the tube when the latter is threaded through a series of openings in the fin, as shown, each opening consisting of two apertures connected by incisions 5 to form flanges 6. The fin is fitted by pressing flange 6 upwards and the opposing portion 7 of the fin downwards, placing the tube 2 under the flange 6 and then pressing portion 7 upwards to locate the tube. The camber of the fin is said to ensure good thermal contact with the tube along the whole of the length of the fin.
