Abstract
1,080,459. Transistor amplifying circuits. MONSANTO CO. March 18, 1966 [March 22, 1965], No. 12149/66. Heading H3T. A differential amplifier with high common mode rejection comprises a pair of input transistors Q1, Q2 with as a common emitter circuit impedance a current generator conprising the collector-emitter path of a third transistor Q4 having a fixed base bias from potentiometer R6, R7. The collectors of transistors Q1, Q2 are provided with loads R3, R4 and direct coupled to the base of a similar second stage comprising transistors Q5, Q6 having transistor Q7 as common emitter circuit impedance, the output impedance of the first stage is made at least twenty times greater than the input impedance of the second. A third stage Q8, Q9 has a resistor R15 as common emitter impedance, output being obtained from the collector load resistor R16 of transistor Q9, via a two-stage emitter-follower Q10, Q11. The emitter-collector path of a further transistor Q3 is included in the supply to the input transistors Q1, Q2, to reduce the potential applied to their collectors. When the arrangement is used as an operational amplifier with feed-back between output and input, stability is obtained by connection of a passive phasecorrection network to the compensation terminal provided in the collector circuit of the transistor Q9.
