Abstract

1,080,451. Filters for liquids. TECALEMIT (ENGINEERING) Ltd. Jan. 17, 1964 [Jan. 23, 1963], No. 2853/63. Heading B1D. A throw-away oil filter has a hollow hub 51 by which it is screwed into a part 55 of an I.C. engine body, a sealing ring 47 secured to the filter thereby being compressed against a raised seating 65 on the part 55. Unfiltered oil enters the filter through holes 49 in an end plate 48 and then flows radially and laterally between the plate and a resilient frusto-conical annular disc 57 whose outer edge normally contacts the plate beyond the ring of holes to form a non-return valve. The oil next flows inwards through a cylindrical pleated paper element (61) and then flows along the bore of the hollow hub 51 to a port 54 in the engine part 55. The inner edge of the non-return valve 57 is secured between one end cap 63 of the filter element 61 and an outwardly-directed flange 56 on the hub 51. A spring-loaded excess-pressure by-pass valve 64 may be provided.
