Abstract

1,080,435. Measuring thermal conductivity. SIEMENS-PLANIAWERKE A.G. FœR KOHLEFABRIKATE. May 11, 1966 [May 11, 1965], No.20973/66. Headings G1D and G1N. The thermal conductivity of a test specimen 1 is measured by clamping it between a heated anvil 3 and a spring located and cooled anvil 7, the temperature gradient across the heated anvil 3 being measured by spaced differential thermocouples (or thermopiles) 13, 14. The temperature difference between the anvils is maintained constant so that the thermal conductivity of the specimen is proportional to the output of the differential thermocouple and the length of the specimen. The apparatus is calibrated by using known specimens. The specimen is preferably lagged.
