Abstract
A pressure probe (2) is used to measure the ram pressure prevailing in a flow, which is proportional, via a square-root extractor element, to the flow velocity, which is proportional, in turn, to the rate of flow. Two temperature sensors in the feed and return of a heating system measure the cooling of the medium. If the rate of flow is multiplied by the temperature difference, a value is yielded which is proportional to the quantity of heat. The ram pressure is converted into an electrical signal in a pressure transducer (4). This transducer (4) is, for example, unstable with respect to temperature changes or changes in the static pressure, i.e. in the cases mentioned measurement errors arise. In order to exclude these, the transducer (4) is regularly restabilised by means of the so-called zero adjustment, in which a new zero point is established. In order to carry out the zero adjustment, the solenoid valve (5) is used to produce equality of pressure at the diaphragm of the pressure transducer (4). In this heat flow meter, the influence of temperature, fluctuations in the static pressure and ageing at the pressure transducer are excluded, and the endurance properties of the measuring system are thereby improved. <IMAGE>
