Abstract
An enammelled wire is obtained by covering a bare metal wire successively with a layer of a polyester resin formed from terephthalic acid and a dihydric and a trihydric alcohol modified by an organic titanium salt in the proportion of 5% to 10% by weight of the resin and by an isocyanate in the proportion of 10% to 20% by weight of the resin, and then a layer of a non-aromatic thermoplastic resin. After each layer of resin has been applied, the wire passes into a furnace where the resins are polymerised at a temperature of 380 DEG C. The enamelled wire obtained is stretched by 25% and is wound on a mandrel and kept at a temperature of 175 DEG C for an hour. The resulting insulation has neither fissures nor cracks. Various examples are described.
