Abstract
1,078,978. Record card magazines. COMPAGNIE DES MACHINES BULL. Dec. 4, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No. 49550/64. Heading B8S. [Also in Division B6] A card supply magazine for record card machines comprising a vertical front wall 10 and vertical guides 11, 13 (12, 14), Fig. 2 (not shown), is provided with pivoted retaining lugs at levels T1, T2, whereby the cards are supported in groups G1, G2, .G3, as shown, to allow the magazine to contain a great number of cards without the weight thereof causing defective operation of the card extraction mechanism at the base of the magazine. A fourth group of cards may be supported by the group G3 and by a further lug 30 at the level T3. In operation, as cards are extracted from the base of the magazine, the upper level of the cards in group G1 descends and cards from group G2 leave the lugs at the level T1 and join the cards of group G1 thereby maintaining the upper level of group G1 at a constant level. Similarly, the upper level of group G2 is maintained at a constant level by cards from group G3. The lug 30 is mounted on a pin 33 upon which it can rock and which is secured to the guide 13 of the magazine by means of a bearing surface (34), Fig. 3 (not shown), eccentric in the guide, which permits, by rotation about its axis, variations in the relative position of the pin 33 which can be locked in a selected position. The card extraction mechanism comprises knives 23 secured to a slidable plate 22, an adjustable throat knife 20 and a fixed throat plate 21. The plate 22 is coupled to a rocking lever 25 actuated by a cam, and card-driving rollers 26, 27 are provided adjacent the throat.
