Abstract
1,078,916. Pulse circuits. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 15, 1964, No. 42210/64. Heading H3P. [Also in Division G4] In a system for generating a predetermined number of pulses, particularly for use as a strobe generator in an asynchronous computer, a delay line DPG, a gate G3 and an inverter 15 have regenerative feedback so that when gate G3 is enabled, a train of pulses is generated. Counters LC and BC are provided to inhibit G3 after the generation of the predetermined number of pulses. The Specification describes how predetermined numbers of pulses from 1 to 25 may be generated on line PTO, the number being predetermined by the initial settings of counters LC, BC and by the presence or absence of signals at OC, M. The first pulse may be generated by simultaneous application of voltage steps at ST and OC, initiating a step along delay line DOP. A toggle TOP is set by the first output from DOP and reset by the second output, feeding a pulse via gate GO to output line PTO, the duration of which is determined by the delay between the first and second outputs of DOP. Subsequent pulses are generated by the loop G3, I5, DPG continuously setting and resetting the toggle TPG. Each pulse steps counter BC until all its toggles TA, TB, TC are set, when the setting of counter LC is reduced by one. The counting continues as necessary, until the count in LC has been reduced to zero when a process finish toggle TPF is set, terminating the output of the pulse generating circuit PG. The first pulse generator is inhibited when generating trains of certain predetermined numbers. The OR gates employ diodes feeding a series capacitor.
