Abstract

Salts are obtained by reacting an aliphatic diamine, having at least 6 carbon atoms in an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, with a carboxylic acid known to have plant growth regulant properties of the plant hormone type; a solvent may be used. Preferred amines are of formula RNHCH2CH2CH2NH2, in which R is a C6- 18 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical. Specified plant hormone acids are 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T, MCPA, chlorinated benzoic acid, dichloropropionic acid, endoxyhexahydrophthalic acid, b -indolylacetic acid, a -naphthaleneacetic acid, indolylbutyric acid, indolylpropionic acid, phenylacetic acid and fluoroacetic acid. The salts are herbicides (see Division A5).ALSO:Herbicides comprise a salt of a carboxylic acid known to have plant growth regulant properties of the plant hormone type with an aliphatic diamine having at least 6 carbon atoms in an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, dissolved in an organic solvent or emulsified to form an oil-in-water emulsion. Preferred amines are of formula RNHCH2CH2CH2NH2, in which R is a C6-18 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical. Specified plant hormone acids are 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T, MCPA, chlorinated benzoic acid, dichloropropionic acid, endoxyhexahydrophthalic acid, b -indolylacetic acid, a -naphthaleneacetic acid, indolylbutyric acid, indolylpropionic acid, phenylacetic acid and fluoroacetic acid. Specified solvents are kerosene, xylene, aromatic oils, acetone, diacetone, and isopropanol.
