Abstract

107,840. Cameron, T. W. July 31, 1916. Bottles, non-refillable.-To prevent illicit opening of a bottle, the stopper 1, Fig. 1, which has a projecting nib 2 engaging a bayonet-joint in the interior of the bottle neck 5, is secured to a flange 9 upon the bottle neck by a glass fastener 10 which is immovable without breaking. The fastener has a horizontal member 11 lying upon the top of the head 8 of the stopper and carries a spring tongue 13 which engages a recess 14 in the underside of the flange 9, the foot 10<a> of the fastener resting against the bottle neck. In another arrangement, Fig. 5, a projecting stud 16 on the fastener 15 is cemented in a recess 19 in the flange 18. The stud 1 has an enlarged or roughened termination 17, and the recess 19 has a reduced entrance 20. The fastener and the bottle neck bear inscriptions as shown in Fig. 7 which, before the bottle is opened, read " Not opened, genuine," and, after opening, " Opened, not genuine,"
