Abstract
1,078,039. Cartidge guide means. BOFORS A.B. Nov. 26, 1964 [Nov. 26, 1963], No. 48186/64. Heading F3C. A cartridge guiding device for guiding cartridges into the chamber 2 of an automatic gun comprises cartridge guide means 4 adapted to be located rearwardly of the breech ring 3 of the gun and coaxial with the chamber 2 so as to define an internal guide surface 11 and at least one guide member 10 pivoted at 12 and biased by a spring 16 into the position shown wherein it extends internally into the guide means a distance substantially equal to the difference in radius of the catridge portion 18 and the rear flange 8. The guide member thus lifts the front portion of the cartridge to render the axis thereof in line with that of the chamber 2 during ramming. The top of the guide means is widened upwards at 23 to permit the flange 8 to ride over the member 10. When a cartridge is ejected it engages the member 10 to pivot it against the action of spring 16 to a position external of the guide means in which position it is clear of the cartridge. Preferably the guide means is in the form of two upper and two lower guide bars having part cylindrical inner surfaces to support the cartridge, the lower two bars being pivotal outwardly to permit the introduction of a cartridge from below into the guide means and each having a guide member pivoted thereto.
