A common topping-up trough 30 for an accumulator has float valves 20 which carry indicator stems 23 which abut against a member 32 on a transparent cover 31 when the liquid level is correct, thus indicating this visually. When the cover 31 is removed the valves close completely if the level is correct and prevent topping-up liquid from entering. A hole 33 is provided for a hydrometer.
