Abstract

107,706. Burguete. J. J. Oct. 20, 1916. Submarine vossels.-A submarine is provided with a chamber having a rising and falling cover operated from inside the vessel and adapted to support a water-tight boat. In the form shown, the boat 4 has an entrance door 4a adapted to coincide with a door 1<a> in the casing 1 and has a water-tight cover 6 provided with covered manholes 7. The upper part of the boat has a bevelled strip 5 adapted to be pressed against a corresponding strip 3 on the casing by chains 5<c> tightened by screwed couplings. The boat is also secured to a moving platform and cover 13 by a screw 9 passing through a boss 10 and screwed into a socket 12 on the platform. The socket 12 has a spring- pressed slide arranged to close the screwed aperture when the screw is withdrawn, so that the screw may be used as a jack to give an initial upward movement to the boat. The platform can be raised to lift the boat and afterward bear against a packing 25 to close the chamber by a series of screws 16 rotatably connected to the platform and simultaneously rotated from a hand-wheel 22 by a chain 24 engaging sprockets 23 on the screws.
