Abstract
1,076,899. Determining moisture content. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. March 31, 1965 [April 13, 1964], No.13681/65. Heading G1S. In a gas chromatograph hygrometer moisture analyzer for a hydrocarbon sample containing hydrocarbon and moisture portions there is provided chromatographic means for absorbing all moisture from the sample product for a predetermined time. While passing through said chromatographic means, means for removing said hydrocarbon portion, a moisture detector and means for passing the moisture portion of the sample to the moisture detector subsequent to the elimination of the hydrocarbon portion of the sample from the chromatographic means. In the apparatus described, the sample stream 1 is drawn through a valve 2 by a carrier gas from a source 3 towards an oven 4 enclosing a vaporizer 6 and chromatographic column 7 where the moisture content is temporarily absorbed. The hydrocarbon sample 1 is then drawn off by the carrier gas through a line 8a. After a time delay, e. g. 13-14 minutes, valve 8 is switched so that the output of the chromatographic column 7 may be fed to the hygrometer 11 and the moisture content indicated to a recorder 13.
