[Also in Divisions B2, F2 and F4] A device for cleaning a surface such as that of a vehicle body or a glazed wall comprises a hollow squeegee element through which soiled cleaning liquid is withdrawn from the surface by suction generated by means operated by compressed air, and liquid ejector means operable by compressed air for discharging cleaning liquid on to the surface through a valve controlled outlet. The squeegee element 12 is formed by a metal reinforced channel section rubber strip closed at the ends and provided with perforations (not shown) which communicate with a conduit 10 on which is mounted an air manifold 20 to which compressed air is supplied by a pipe 23. From the manifold 2 compressed air may pass via a valve controlled conduit 24 (Fig. 5, not shown) to one or more port or ports leading into the pipe 10 in a direction away from the squeegee element 12 to create the required suction in the latter. The liquid-air mixture drawn into the pipe 10 is discharged at the open end thereof. Compressed air may also pass from the manifold 20 through a valve controlled conduit 25 to a spray device 26 for discharging atomized cleaning liquid on to the surface to be cleaned. The device 26 incorporates an outlet valve 37 (Fig. 3, not shown) which is opened by means operated by the compressed air supplied through the conduit 25.
