Valves closing after predetermined flow.-In apparatus for proportioning the flow of two liquids, as in adding chemical reagents to water to be purified, a pipe 45 is pivoted at 47 in the reagent tank 46, and its open end is supported by a cord 44 wound on a drum 43 which is rotated slowly through gearing 41, Fig. 2, by a water-wheel 38 so as to lower the pipe and to run the reagent from the tank at a rate dependent upon the flow of water to be treated This water is supplied by a pipe 14 to a dividing-tank 13, and the main portion passes by orifices 16, 22 into the treating-tank 10. A part of the water passes by a pipe 24 from the tank 13 to another dividing-tank 25 wherein dividing-notches 31, 32, Fig. 2, are adjusted by a sliding valve 33. One part of the water passes directly to the treating-tank by pipes 34, 35, and the other part operates the water-wheel 38 to regulate the flow of reagent. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) it is stated that the supply valve 15 in the water-supply pipe 14 is operated automatically by a lever 55 controlled by a counterweighted bucket 60 which is provided at the bottom with a float valve 64. The valve is opened by the action of the counterweight. When the tank is full the water overflows into and fills the bucket 60 which then drops and closes the valve. As the tank empties, the float valve 64 opens and empties the bucket, whereupon the counterbalance weight raises the bucket again and opens the valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
