Abstract

1,075,648. Welding by fusion. VYSKUMNY USTAV ZVARACSKY MHD. Nov. 2, 1965, No. 46302/65. Heading B3R. A guide nozzle and contact device for guiding a consumable electrode to the weld zone comprises two side members (2) joined by a web (6) to form an elongated channel, and a tube (5) removably mounted in the channel and through which the electrode passes. In a nozzle for electro-slag welding the channel and tube (5) are curved and the tube is secured in place by an abutment (7) detachably secured to the channel. Welding current is fed to the abutment. A wearing block (14) of hard metal is soldered into the end of the guide. The electrode is adjustably deflected by a removable deflector 15 attached to a lever 10 whose position is sot by a cam actuated by a knob 17. A ceramic roller 16 on the deflector prevents contact of the nozzle with the work.
