Abstract
1,075,100. Defoaming liquids. FUJI SHASHIN FILM KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Jan. 24, 1966 [Jan. 25, 1965], No. 3173/66. Heading B1M. Liquid flowing through chamber 12 is defoamed by subjecting it to ultra-sonic waves generated by a generator 1, a transducer 2 of the generator being attached to a partition plate 7 and an intermediate section 8 through which a low corrosive liquid, e.g. water, flows and transmits the wave energy between the bottom plate 11 of the defoaming chamber 12 and the partition plate 7. The plate 7 is of material having a thermal expansion coefficient similar to that of the transducer, while the bottom plate 11 is of material having a high corrosive resistance to liquid being treated. The outlet 10 of the intermediate chamber 8 is arranged in the uppermost portion of the side to prevent foam accumulating, the plate 11 also sloping for this reason. Air entering the transducer chamber 4 cools the transducer. A buffer plate 13 to prolong the passage of the liquid being defoamed, and an air vent 16 through which foam can be exhausted are provided together with a shielded viewing window 17.
