Abstract

1,074,917. Paint brushes. AMERICAN FLANGE & MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. Oct. 25, 1965, No. 45081/65. Heading A4K. In a paint brush, a plastic ferrule 19 is prevented from breaking away from bristle adhesive 29, by intruding the adhesive into groove 24 and providing ribs 26 or depressions for mechanically keying the surfaces together. Nylon bristles are preferably secured in epoxy adhesive in an acetal ferrule. The handle, which has a hollow sleeve 8 with in-turned lugs 12, 13, is preferably injection moulded from polypropylene. Sleeve 8 is slotted (Fig. 2, not shown), to allow escape of air from the interior of the handle, on assembly of the brush.
