Abstract

1,074,900. Removing dust generated in industrial processes. FLEXIBLE DRIVES (GILMANS) Ltd. June 22, 1964, No. 25801/64. Heading F4X. [Also in Division F2] A flexible shaft 21 for driving a cleaning tool attached thereto at 18 is rotatably mounted in a removable flexible cover 26 through which material dislodged by the cleaning tool is discharged. The cover 26 is connected to the shaft at the tool end by way of a rigid tube 24 apertured at 25 for the admission of dislodged material, the shaft being rotatably mounted in the tube by bearings 20. A T-junction 27 is secured to the other end of the cover and has a branch 27a connected to an extractor. The shaft may be protected by a flexible sleeve 22, the dislodged material passing through the clearance between the cover and the sleeve. The tool, which may be a rotary brush, may be partially covered by a guard comprising a part cylindrical portion 39 and a portion 35 clamping on the cover and having an enlarged part 40 providing a curved duct 41 leading to the inlet aperture 25.
