Abstract

An arrangement for automatically controlling a heating programme for thermogravimetry comprises a sample holder 1 in an oven, the heating of which is increased at a uniform rate by a programme device 16. The holder 1 is coupled to a balance 3 and a coil 11 the induced voltage in which from magnets 12 cuts off, reduces the heating current or arrests the programme through a reflecting galvanometer 13, 14 and photo-cells 15 or other amplifying means. By means of a light beam slot and lens system 5-7 and a reflecting galvanometer 9, 10 connected to a thermocouple, the changes in weight and temperature may be recorded on a light sensitive paper tape apparatus 8.
