1,074,774. Packaging. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Aug. 12, 1964 [Aug. 12, 1963], No. 32861/64. Heading B8C. Articles having similar-shaped rims, e.g. lenses, are packaged in a sheet (10) Fig. 4 (not shown), of flexible material formed with bosses (11) spaced from one another, axially of the package, a distance equal to the thickness of each rim, the sheet being bent about the articles and its longitudinal edges sealed together. The sheet (10) may be of biaxially oriented styrene plastics material, and the bosses (11) made by pressure-vacuum forming. The edges of the sheet may be heat-sealed round the articles or joined by adhesive. Thin metal sheet may be used instead of plastics material. The bosses may have non-parallel walls, Fig. 5 (not shown). A frame (12), Fig. 3 (not shown), having a semi-cylindrical support surface may be used in forming the package.
