Abstract

A water-proofing bath comprises a wax, tetraalkyl titanate, carboxylic acid or aluminium salt, and an organic solvent. The proportion of carboxylic acid is 1-30% based on the wax. The bath contains 30-150 gm/l of solid. The solid may be premixed with 10-100% of solvent. Cotton or wool is treated. The wax is paraffin, ceresin, alkyl acrylate, or hardened triglyceride. Alkyl is n- or isopropyl, butyl, or amyl. The carboxylic acid is stearic, arachidic, behenic, lignoceric, montanic, or dehydroabietic. The organic solvent is white spirit or perchlorethylene.
