Abstract

1,073,676. Mould and core materials. KARL SCHMIDT G.m.b.H. June 6, 1966 [June 12, 1965], No. 25137/66. Addition to 1,047,239. Heading B3F. A method of forming a cavity in a casting, using a core made from a neutral water-soluble salt such as NaCl or KCl as described in the parent Specification 1,047,239, but wherein up to 10% of one or more salts or mineral substances is incorporated in the core material, to increase the resistance of the core to thermal shock. The additional substances may be borax, magnesium, or talc or a mixture thereof.
