Abstract

1, 073, 495. Measuring angles. E. CELLIER. March 25, 1966 [March 31, 1965], No. 13427/66. Heading G1X. Apparatus for measuring angles comprises a semi-circular graduated dial 1a, a support 10 slidable along a rule 11 removably fixed at the rectilinear base of the dial, the support carrying a pivoted arm 14 the free end 14a of which co-operates with the dial 1a. In use the support 10 with the rule 11 and arm 14 are removed from the base 3 supporting the dial 1a, and the angle to be measured is set between the rule 11 and arm 14 and held by rotation of a locking lever 15. The rule 11 and support 10 may be locked against relative sliding movement by a knob 12. The assembly is then replaced on the base and the rule damped with its ends abutting the ends of the dial 1a by use of a cam lever 9. The edge 10' of the support 10 is also arranged to abut a stop 4 and this positions the pivot axis of the arm 14 at the centre of the dial. The required angle is then read off on the dial. The apparatus may also be used for marking out angles previously set using the dial.
