Abstract
107,329. Pistolesi, O. V., (Mahony Co., H. J.). Nov 10, 1916. Hooks, slip.-A slip hook particularly applicable for releasing ships'boats from the lowering tackle comprises a pivoted bill held in position by a weighted catch released by a sliding latch. The bill 13 is pivoted between a pair of spaced plates A so that in the closed position the bill and in the open position the shank 14 extends across a slot formed at the top of the plates. In the closed position, the shank 14, which has a roller 18, bears against a weighted cam 16, adapted to be released by a latch 7 on a sliding plate 6. The plate 6 slides between guides 5 on the plates A and through a bracket 25 fastened to bolt 10 which secures the hook to the load. The lower end of the plate 6 has a roller 22 bearing against a cam 21 on a longitudinal shaft 19 which has a similar cam for releasing the hook at the other end of the load and a folding handle whereby the shaft may be rotated. The device may be steadied by a band secured to the load and encircling the plates A.
