Abstract

1,071,969. Helicopters. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Nov. 1, 1965 [Nov. 5, 1964], No. 45083/64. Headings B7G and B7W. A helicopter rotor. 17 is formed with a duct 18 housing a gas-turbine engine 19 coaxial with the rotor axis, and driving a fan 20. The rotor comprises coaxial ducts 22, 23, the duct 23 transmitting exhaust gases from the engine to corrugated tip jet nozzles 24 enclosed within tip ducts through which ambient air is drawn. The annular cavity between ducts 22 and 23 is supplied with air by fan 20 for discharge from a spanwise slot to promote circulation and lift on the rotor blades. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 756,050.
