Abstract

1,071,829. Masted lift trucks. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. Nov. 24, 1964 [Nov. 29, 1963], No. 47707/64. Heading B8H. The movable mast section 11 of a masted lift truck extends, when in its lowermost position, above the fixed mast section 10 and is guided by rollers 18 detachably mounted on the top of the mast section 10 and by rollers 17 mounted at the bottom of the mast section 11. The rollers 18 are mounted on stub shafts 19 through which pass the stems 24 of slide bearing members 25 engaging the webs of the mast section 11. The load carriage 12 is provided with guide rollers running on the mast section 11 and is raised by chains 16 passing over sheaves 15 mounted on the upper end of an hydraulic ram 13 which is pivotally supported on the mast section 10 and which is guided at its upper end by a guide rod 14a secured to the mast section 11. On extending the ram from its fully retracted position, the load carriage is raised with respect to the mast sections 10, 11 until the upper end of the ram engages a cross-member at the upper end of the guide rod 14a, whereafter further extension of the ram raises the section 11 and the load carriage. In a modification, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown), the slide bearing members 25 are omitted and rollers 28 are provided to engage the edges of the flanges 11a of the mast section 11.
