A tub shunt-back has two driving units 4a, 4b, each having a slide-armature-brake motor driving friction wheels which engage a tub. As shown, a tub 3 runs in from track 1 and is slowed down and stopped by units 4a, 4b which have their brakes applied; the points are then moved and the motors reversed to drive the tub on to track 2.
