Abstract

1,071,530. Washing machines. CONSTRUCTA WERKE G.m.b.H. Nov. 30, 1964 [Dec. 24, 1963], No. 48662/64. Heading D1A. A washing machine comprises a washing liquid container 1 and a washing and spinning drum (2) with a drive 3, 4 together forming a system (11) mounted on swingable spring supports 15 that stand on cup feet 23. During washing, system 11 is held rigidly by an anchoring element 12, e.g. an electromagnet, in the machine housing (13) against the action of the springs 16 of supports 15. When the washing container has been pumped out and hence the weight reduced, the springs 16 lift the system and during spin drying it is free to oscillate in the event of the load being unevenly distributed. Preferably, the pumping out begins when the rotational speed of the spinning drum is above the critical range of the natural frequency of the system. The supports 15 each comprise a tubular head portion within which slides a leg (22) with a cup foot 23 which rests in a cup shoe (24). Shoe 24 may be metal or an elastic synthetic plastic and a cushion ring (28) is provided beneath a collar (27) to act as a stop in the event of excessive displacement of the washing and spinning system. The machine is mounted on lockable running wheels 41. Housing (13) has a charging door 35 closing an aperture which may be connected to the charging aperture of the liquid container by a bellows or the latter may be closed by a door 37. A washing medium inlet pipe 38 is connected by bellows 38' to a washing medium inlet tray 39. The operations are controlled by a programme controller 40. Motor 4 may be a pole-charging motor or two motors may be provided.
