Abstract

107,112. Allen, R. W. Aug. 19, 1916. Valve apparatus.-Relates to a louvered shutter arranged in the inlet shaft of a fan for producing forced draught, for example on board ship. The shutter comprises a number of slats formed of bars A of stream-line cross-section and carrying metal strips B. Each bar A has an arm C engaging a slotted slidable bar E which can be moved by a handle F so as to open or shut all the slate. Each slat may be formed of a strip of sheet-metal H, Fig. 5, bent to a stream-line crosssection and secured by a pin L.
