Abstract
Copper and its alloys are deoxidized by first passing therethrough a stream of hydrogen, after which the melt is subjected to vacuum treatment e.g. at 5 x 10-4 mm. of mercury to remove residual hydrogen. The treatment may be carried out in a graphite crucible.
