Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1069938/C2/1> wherein each of R1 and R2 is a hydrogen atom or a C1- 5 alkyl, C1- 5 alkoxy or trifluoromethyl group, and their preparation by (a) oxidation of a corresponding N-lactoryl compound, or (b) N-acylation of an appropriate o-nitraniline with pyruvic acid or a pyruvoyl halide.
