Abstract

1,068,996. Continuous casting-machines. MANNESMAN A.G. May 4, 1964 [May 3, 1963], No. 18511/64. Heading B3F. In a method of continuous casting in which the casting moves downwardly through a straight or curved mould and is discharged laterally through a curved roller cradle, the bending or straightening of the casting is commenced while the casting is still only partly solidified and is carried out in sub-divided stages, the degree of deformation in successive stages being less than that which is harmful to the material. When casting through a curved mould, the casting is brought into the horizontal through successive stages (a-b, b-c, c-d, d-e) of increasing radii. In a modification, when casting through a straight mould the casting is first bent through a curved path of successive sections of decreasing radii. and then into the horizontal through a curved path of successive sections of increasing radii.
