Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a therapeutic anticholinergic agent having a drying action on mucous membranes and a water-soluble non-toxic Mg salt e.g. MgNo3. The anticholinergic agent may be atropine, scopolamine or a belladonna alkaloid preparation, or any drug having some anticholinergic action, such as an antidepressant, tranquillizer, or antihistamine. Specific examples of such drugs are promethazine, chlorpromazine, amitriyptiline, imipramine, or salts thereof, and phenobarbitalbelladonna combinations. The compositions may be administered orally in conventional forms together with standard excipients.
