Abstract

An anti-static, impact resistant polystyrene comprises (1) a major proportion of polystyrene; (2) a minor proportion of polybutadiene or a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile, and (3) a compound of the formula N[(CH2)yO(CH2OCH2)xOH] where x is 3 or more and y is 2 or more, which may be esterified with a carboxylic acid. The composition may contain 10-30% of the butadiene polymer. Component (3) above may be a condensation product of triethanolamine and ethylene oxide of formula N[(CH2)2O(CH2OCH2)8OH]3 and may be esterified with benzoic, itaconic or pyromellitic acids.
