Abstract
An anti-static, impact-resistant polystyrene comprises (1) a major proportion of polystyrene, (2) a minor proportion of polybutadiene or a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile, and (3) as antistatic agents compounds of formula ROOCH2(CH2OCH2)xCH2OOR where R is a C6- 18 hydrocarbon radical and x is 2 or more; and/or <FORM:1059281/C3/1> where R is (-CH2OCH2-)x where x is 2 or more; and/or a polymer containing the units (-CH2CH2NH-)x where x is 200 or more. The composition may contain 10-30% of the butadiene polymer. The antistatic agents may be a polyglycol ester of formula <FORM:1059281/C3/2> and/or a melamine-formaldehyde/diol condensate.
