Headings F2D and F2Q' A two-speed gear comprises a driven wheel 3 having axially extending pins 4 of uniform length which may be engaged either by relatively long axially extending pins 6 on a driving wheel 5, to produce an intermittent drive, or by pins 6 and relatively short pins 7, depending upon the axial position of the driving wheel 5. The drive from a pinion 12 is transmitted to wheel 5 through a train of gears 11, 10, 9, 8. The gear change may be effected by various means such as a solenoid, a bimetallic strip or a mechanical control by cams.
