Abstract

1,067,557. Hydrostatic transmissions. METALLWERK GLOCKERAU G.m.b.H. Jan. 27, 1965 [Jan. 28, 1964], No. 3713/65. Heading F2D. An hydrostatic drive for an engine-cooling fan 3 includes a variable-capacity pump 1 and a fixed capacity motor 2, the pump setting being adjustable by a piston 4 actuated by a servo-valve 6 under the joint control of the pump delivery pressure and a thermostat 7. Pressure connections are made from the pump output line to the left-hand end of the valve cylinder and to the space between the lands of valve 6. The pressure connection to piston 4 is controlled by the right-hand land of valve 6, the exhaust connection being made through a restriction 10. A relief valve 9 is fitted in the pump delivery line. A spring 8 is fitted between valve 6 and thermostat 7, the valve being moved to the right against the spring if the pump pressure rises, to open communication to the piston 4 and thus adjust the pump setting to reduce output. A second embodiment includes a pressure-limiting valve 11 and pilot valve 12 to reduce pressure peaks in operation.
