A multi-layer photographic silver halide material contains a water-soluble, diffusionresistant colour coupler of the pyrazolone type for magenta and/or of the naphthol type for cyan, wherein an azo group present in the coupling position has the general formula: - in which R1 and R2 are hydrogen, halogen, sulpno, carboxyl, alkyl or alkoxy, R3 is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxyl, alkyl or acylamino and R4 is hydrogen or carboxyl.
