A gear-wheel 10 is secured on a shaft 12 by a key 26 having arms 26<SP>11</SP> engaging in radial slots 22, 24 formed in the end faces of a hub 18 of the gear-wheel and a yoke part 26<SP>1</SP> engaged in a longitudinal slot 12<SP>1</SP> in the shaft. The gear-wheel may be secured longitudinally of the shaft by a set-screw (not shown). Two gear-wheels may be coupled together as shown in Fig. 13 by a sleeve 40 having facial dogs 44, 46 engaging the radial slots in the facing ends of the gear-wheels.
