1,066,733. Television synchronization. BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION. March 26, 1964 [March 26. 1963], No. 35030/66. Divided out of 1,006,732. Heading H3A. In arrangement for synchronizing television signals from one or more sources 11-14 with a master synchronizing pulse generator 10 at a central point comprises a synchronizing pulse generator at each source, a phase error detector 15-18 associated with each source at the central point to which the incoming synchronizing signal from the source and the output of the master signal generator are applied, means for combining the resulting error signal with a television signal which is transmitted to the source and means for extracting the error signal from the television signal and applying same to control the synchronizing generator at the source. The signals are combined by superimposing the error signal on the television signal during the frame blanking interval of the T.V. signal. Error signals for the different sources may be superimposed on different frame blanking pulses during the interval. In the case of colour television systems an error signal representing the phase error in the colour sub-carrier burst may also be transmitted by this method.
