1,066,527. Photographic objectives. CARL-ZEISS-STIFTUNG, [trading as CARL ZEISS]. May 29, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No.22423/64. Heading G2J. An objective of focal length f having a back focus greater than 0À8f, a relative aperture of at least 1:2À4 with an angular field of at least Œ25‹, and an overall length not greater than 3f, comprises a front portion consisting of one, or, as shown, two negative meniscus lenses LI LII spaced a distance d4, which is at least 0À1f, in front of a main portion of positive power consisting of six members wherein LIII, LIV, constitute a positive group, LIV, being a meniscus concave to the image and having not more than 0À4 times the refractive power of LIII, LV is the member of highest negative refractive power in the whole objective and consists of a biconcave lens having the negative refractive power of surface r9 at least one quarter of that of the whole lens, and LVI LVII, LVIII, LIX form a positive group wherein LVI LVII is a meniscus convex to the image. Preferably d10 < 0À25F AND 0À2F< D5 <0À8f. Optical data are provided for six examples.
