The microwave heater comprises a metal helix 2, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), or a tubular waveguide 2a, Fig. 3 (not shown), connected to a source 3 of microwave energy. An infra-red oven 8 may be provided adjacent to or surrounding the microwave heater.
