Abstract

1,065,456. Stereophonic radio receivers. OKI ELECTRIC INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. Oct. 4, 1963 [Oct. 15, 1962; Feb. 5, 1963], No. 39247/63. Heading H4L. A receiver for stereophonic radio signals is provided with blocking means connected between the sum and difference output circuit and the sub-carrier demodulator to prevent the generation of undesired beat signals. As shown in Fig. 3, the L-R modulated signal together with the reconstituted sub-carrier is supplied to the conventional diode demodulator 8, 9. The demodulated L-R output signal is' supplied via valves 25, 26 to resistors 16, 17 which are supplied with the demodulated L+R signal, the resulting sum and difference providing the L and R signals at the terminals 18, 19 respectively. The valves 25, 26 act as the blocking device to prevent the L + R signal from reaching the demodulator 8, 9. Transistors may be substituted for the valves 25, 26. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 4 (not shown), diodes (31, 32, 33, 34) act as the blocking device. The positive half-cycles of the L+R signal are blocked by the diodes (33, 34) and the negative half-cycles are short-circuited to earth by the diodes (31, 32).
