Abstract

In a dispenser for liquid soap or the like, pressure is applied to a plate 6 to move a ram 5, thereby extending tongues 10 through apertures 11 beyond the surface of a plunger 3, and force the plunger into a container 1. The plunger 3 is driven down until the tongues 10 lie flat against a face plate 4. When the pressure on the plate 6 is relieved, the tongues are withdrawn into the plunger 3 and the plunger may be further forced into the container since the ends of the tongues will lie inside the aperture of the plate 4 as the ram 5 descends.
