Abstract
1,064,949. Paper making. WILHELM HOLZHAUER, ATEX - HOLZSTOFF & HOLZFASER-ISOLIERPLATTENFABRIK KOMM GES. March 31, 1964, No. 13084/64. Headings D2A and D2B. A flocculating agent is added to a suspension of pulp immediately before deposition of the pulp on the screen of a Fourdriner machine in order to coagulate the fibres and any other materials in the suspension, such as fillers, binding agents, adhesives &c. and thus to assist in the dewatering of the web. The method is particularly applicable where the fibrous materials are normally difficult to dewater on a Fourdrinier screen. As shown a spray device 7 is used to apply a solution e.g. of aluminium sulphate to the pulp stream immediately prior to its flow over a rotating roller 5 on to the screen of a Fourdrinier 3. Coventional table rolls, suction devices 9 and press rolls 10 are used to dewater the web.
