Abstract

1,064,874. Converting oscillating motion into rotary motion; cams. OMEGA LOUIS BRANDT & FRERE S.A. July 13, 1964 [July 16, 1963], No. 28884/64. Headings F2K and F2Q. [Also in Division G3] In a timepiece of the kind having an electrically maintained balance 1, a motiontransmitting mechanism steps on a toothed wheel 12 driving the time train. A lever 7 is pivoted at a forked end 8, 9 which carries a spring pawl 13 engaging the wheel. The other end 4 of the lever has a circular opening, with a gap 6, surrounding the balance arbor. The included angle of the opening up to the ends of the gap, exceeds 180 degrees, the arbor being slightly eccentric to the opening. The balance carries a crescent-shaped driving shoe 3 which in the neutral rest position is opposite the gap and clear of the end 4 so that the balance can readily start. At the normal amplitude of swing, e.g. 200 degrees, the shoe passes through the gap 6 but without engaging the outer surface of end 4. If this amplitude is exceeded, the shoe by engaging the outer surface banks the inner surface against a sleeve on the balance arbor. A fixed detent pawl 14 carried by a springy slotted bridge 17, is adjustable by two screws 20, 22 which vary the slot.
