Abstract

1,064,650. Liquid sample supply apparatus. TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION. Nov. 26, 1964 [Dec. 24, 1963], No. 48163/64. Heading B1X. A liquid sample supply apparatus comprises a carrier, for example turntable 12, for a series of liquid sample containers 18, a take-off device 24, means intermittently to move the takeoff device and the carrier relative to each other to position successive containers at the take-off device, means automatically operable in response to these positioning movements to effect vertical movement of the take-off device into and out of the containers, and means, for example tube (57) in Fig. 6 (not shown), for introducing air into the liquid in the container from which sample is being removed by takeoff tube 30. Tube 53 serves to introduce air into the liquid in the container immediately preceding the one from which sample is being removed. The liquid sample is segmented during take-off by air blown in through tube (59') (Fig. 6). Take-off tube 30 and air-tube 53 are cleaned between samples by dipping into wash-liquid in receptacles 26, 52 respectively.
