Abstract
1,064,397. Anchor bolts. McNAMARA PRODUCTS & SERVICES Inc. Dec. 9, 1964 [Dec. 10, 1963; May 27, 1964], No. 50053/64. Heading F2H. An anchor bolt comprises a torque transmitting flexible cable 12 in which a leading sleeve 14 is swaged to one end of the cable, the sleeve 14 having an externally threaded outer portion 18, the other end of the cable having swaged thereto a rear sleeve 16 terminating at its outer end in a flange 20 and head 22 which are formed as integral parts of the said sleeve. An expansion shell 24 is carried on the threads 18 of sleeve 14, the shell comprising leaves 26 driven outwardly by a wedge 28 which is drawn downwardly between the leaves upon rotation of the bolt. Prior to installation a bearing plate 30 is slipped over the bolt and the threaded portion 18 of the sleeve 14 is engaged on the first few threads within the expansion shell 24. The bolt is then inserted in a blind bore until the bearing plate 30 is positioned against the surface surrounding the outer end and retained thereagainst by the flange 20. A tool is engaged with the head 22 and the bolt is rotated to expand the shell 24 and to tension the shank.
